Born in Wales in 1949, Richard Deacon is internationally recognized as one of contemporary sculpture’s most influential figures. He quickly emerged as an exceptional fabricator of forms, the creator of an artistic universe fluidly embracing the living.
The Missing Part exhibition, designed in close collaboration with the artist, is a retrospective of 40 years
of his work shown here for the first time as an assemblage of approximately forty sculptures and some 120 drawings, engravings and photographs.
The exhibition was first shown in Straßbourg/France at the Musée d'Art moderne et contemporain de Strasbourg from 04.06.-19.09.2010. Read more about the exhibition on the website of the museum (english). It has been a pleasure for Brandl museum logistics working with Sophie Kimenau, registrar at the Strasbourg museum.
The exhibition was intermediately stored in one of the Brandl fine art warehouses ( volume: four trucks+ three trailers) and moved on in January 2011 to Hannover, Sprengel Museum.
A nice project to commence the new year in direct cooperation with registrars Eva Koehler and Brigitte Nandingna!
