Museum Brandhorst Move - Bavarian State Collection

The Udo and Anette Brandhorst Stiftung (Foundation) had received numberous services from our team for many years.

When the collection was due to move from Cologne to Munich, to the newly built Museum Brandhorst, BRANDL museum logistics was called on scene.

Not only did we plan the entire move from the private residence in Cologne, we also handled various loans from storage areas of the Bavarian State Collection ( from the Neue Pinakothek and  from the Pinakothek der Moderne), and also from our Munich based fine art warehouse.

Moving from a private collectors residence is a totally different approach compared to a regular museum move. We discussed the conservators request for clima cases, which due to the loading capacity of the floors would have takem 4 times the time we finally needed. Due to weight regular clima cases were unbearable, whilst March still is a cold and often rainy period in this area. We therefore developed a lightweight insulated travelling frame concept, which finally passed the conservators exemination.  Since we also use this newly developped travelling frame quite frequently for continental road transports.
